The fluor-escent screen should be adaptable for the ready insertion of the plate whenan exposure has to be made. Since the work is conducted in the dark, allmetal points should be insulated or the whole apparatus earthed, and allthe controlling factors must be at hand. Nothing is more trying than workof this exacting nature with the factors out of order. Consequently, greatcare should be exercised in the selection of all apparatus, with all the featuresof which the operator must be perfectly familiar. It is important for the operator to have control of the X-ray tube when.
