Ollantaytambo, Peru - 14 May 2018 The ancient Inca ruins at Ollantaytambo are located at an altitude of 2,792m perched above the Urubamba Valley, Cusco region. During the Inca Empire, it was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti, but - at the time of the Spanish conquest of Peru - it became famous as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, heroic leader of the ultimately doomed Inca resistance to the Spanish conquistadores.
