Frank Davis, a former explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician, expresses his thanks to Cynthia Conners, the daughter of Master Chief Boatswain's Mate Sherman Byrd, during the presentation of a resolution named in honor of Master Chief Byrd during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival at James Weldon Johnson Park, Feb. 26, 2022. Master Chief Byrd was the first Black explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician in the armed forces.
