As a rule pigeons are very hardy, if reasonable care is taken as to feeding, watering and housing; especially so with birds which can be allowed their liberty, and that should be the case whenever it is possible to do so. Where they must be kept in confinement, they should have a wire cage as large as possible, so they may have some exercise, and they must be supplied with such as grit, sand, green food, etc., which they would find if flying loose and which tends to keep them in good IJhealth. They are very clean in their habits, and unless they are very crowded in their abode it is very little work to keep them clean.
