J., January 9, 1850. He also read for a fewmonths with Charles H. Voorhis, of Jersey City, and finished with James H. Neigh-bour, of Dover, N. J.,and was admitted to thebar of this State in June,1871. He was the lawpartner of Mr. Neigh-bour, under the firmname of Neighbour &Smith, until April 1,1887. In 18S1 he wasadmitted to the NewYork bar, and on Octo-ber 10 of that year be-gan practice in NewYork City, organizingthe law firm of Smith &White, with offices atNo. 280 Broadway.
