Cowbird in a Doves Nest On May 25, 1899, at Rock Hill, Pa , Ifound fifteen or more Doves nests inone orchard While looking for a suita-ble place in which to put my camera, Inoticed a Cowbird flutter off a largeCrackles nest, and on examination foundthe nest to contain only a Cowbirds days later I discovered that aDove had deposited two eggs in thisnest. Circumstances now prevented mefrom visiting the nest for three weeks,when I found a Cowbird ready to fly. YOUNG COV/BIRD AND TWO DOVE S EGGSIN OLD crackles NEST Although I watched the nest for sometime to see how the Doves would feedthe young Cowbird, they did not return,and I regret to say I did not succeed inlearning the outcome of this interestingcase—Chas.
