London owes much to its dockers - its status as a great world city is bound up in centuries as a global port serving the Empire and beyond. It is therefore both poignant and appropriate to see this statue erected as a tribute to many generations of these tireless workers - appropriately enough, in front of the Excel Centre in Docklands. One of the last remaining original cranes they used serves as a fine backdrop, too.
