ROLLING MILL, reconstruction from a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci from the Madrid Codex I, folio 48 v. By passing a semi-finished material through the three rotating cylinders of the Calendar, it is progressively pressed until it obtains the correct shape and desired thickness. Mainly used in the rubber, paper, textile and metallurgical industries, today the Calendar rollers invented by Leonardo are not only in cast iron or steel, but also of different shapes and sizes, and are used in both the production of sheet metal and shaped materials.
