The first cars were put in operationfrom the temporary plant May 7, 1900. Since then thecompany has been able to give a satisfactory service for. GOVERNORS PALACE AND TREASURY BUILDING twenty-six cars from its temporary plant. This will beabandoned after the water-power plant is put into opera-tion, and will probably be entirely out of service when thisarticle is published. The installation of the steam plantcomprised the following: Two Robb-Armstrong enginesof 300 hp each, direct connected to two 225-kvv GeneralElectric Company 500-volt railway generators, switchboardand feeder panels for the control and distribution of thecurrent, 500 hp of Cahall boilers, andthe necessary heaters, pumps, in-jectors, etc. The division operated by animaltraction is equipped with 137 mulecars, employing 2000 mules. Thetrack mileage of this system is 60miles. For its animal system thecompany has five car houses andstables.
