Although much has been said about Canadiansports and pastimes, it must not be supposed thatplay comes first and work second in the minds ofmost. Canadians are hard workers, and it is be-cause of this that they throw themselves into theirrecreations with such zest. Several public holidays are observed in thecourse of the year.
