Fire guts a maisonette in East London


Saturday 28 January 2012, fire ripped through a maisonette in Barking East London. 8 fire engines, ambulances and police were called to the scene of the fire. A London Fire Brigade spokesman said the property was empty at the time of the fire but three people from neighbouring properties were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and a further two people were treated at the scene, none of the casualties are thought to be seriously injured. The blaze totally gutted the property and resulted in several families being evacuated. Fire service investigators are trying to establish how the blaze started.
