Concrete barges in the River Thames

Half submerged ferro-concrete barges originally built for use as a Mulberry harbour during the allied invasion of Normandy in 1941. They were later used to shore up the flood defences in 1953. Now they lie abandoned (apart from the birdlife) on the mud banks near Cold Harbour Point on the north bank of the River Thames in Rainham, Essex.
