Discussion According to Jamieson (1974) the genus Dichogaster includes more than 100 species, a figure increased to 200 by Gates (1982), which is very striking and at the same time causes one to wonder whether the creating of new species during the 1970s was really so notable. The present author considers that a thorough revision of the above-men- tioned genus is needed in order to avoid it being used as a permanent refuge for those species for which sufficient evidence has not been given, such as D. cheranganiensis Cernosvitov, 1938; Z). kakulimana Michaelsen, 1914; D. navana Michaelsen, 1938; Z). badajos Righi et al., 1978.
