The back is merely the prolonged fore-legs, raking backwards ;at the top they are joined and kept firm by a wide piece carved witharabesque foliage in relief. Two other bars are below, the centre onehaving a row of little arches; and the three are united by a series of smallturned balusters in ebonized wood. The back and the bars connecting thelegs are also carved in low relief. The chair stands two feet and one inch high, by nearly fifteen incheswide. Bought for 4
