Nicolucci, of Isola del Liri in Italy, states ^ that similarsaddle-querns have also been found in the terramare of the Stone andBronze ages in Italy. A saddle-quern similar to No. 75, but of mica-slate, was found in the excavations at Magyarad, in the county of Hontin Hungary, and is in the collection of B. Nyary Jeno.^ The hand-millsfound in Mecklenburg, and preserved in the Grand Ducal Antiquarium atSchwerin, are of granite, from 2 to 3 ft. long and 1 to 2 ft. broad, withsmaller ones of the same form for bruising the grain.
