Etruscan funerary carving. Dating from the 1st century BC during the Roman era, this stone carving shows a funeral procession. The dead person is in the covered chariot, which is being drawn by two mules led by a servant. Walking behind the chariot are an adult and a child. The Etruscan civilisation preceded that of the Romans, and elements of Etruscan art became part of Roman culture. This carving is now in the National Archaeological Museum in Florence, Italy.
