Triclinium and ninphaeum in Necropolis of El Ruedo roman village 4th-5th century. Mosaics. Almedinilla in Cordoba province, Andalusia, southern Spain. The Roman villa of El Ruedo, located on the outskirts of the municipality of Almedinilla, makes up one of the best-preserved Roman sites on the Iberian Peninsula. This impressive villa stands out above all for its spacious rooms and for the variety of mosaics, paintings and pavements that have earned it recognition as an Asset of Cultural Interest. It was discovered by chance, in the late 80's and early 90's during the construction of the A-339 highway. It is an agricultural exploitation, possibly a large estate, dating from the 1st to the 7th century AD, owned by a dominus or lord, whose identity is unknown, served by a gang of serfs and slaves. In its domains the so-called Mediterranean triad cultivated: vine, olive tree and cereals, proof of this is the field of silos, to store the grain, the alberquillas to decant oil, and the wine presses, found during the archaeological excavations.
