I have never heard thissong SUNG before. The Commanding Officer cameforward after the singing and said it was the greatestthing he had ever listened to. Music certainlydeserves its place as a universal language since almostwithout exception every one once interested lovesto sing. Nor is it at all the ragtime songs that interest themen the most, for the old songs: Old Folks at Home,Massas in the Cold, Cold Ground, Annie Laurie,The Girl I Left Behind Me, still compete with thesongs the men are inventing all the time.
