On the invitation of Mrs. John .M. Forbes ofMilton, he lectured once a week at her house to a party of her friends for threemonths, beginning Nov. 6, 1875, and again in the winter of 1876-77, for a like Forbes provided two blackboards ; and, at her request, the doctor did not rub outthe last drawings of each lecture. She traced them on thin paper, and then transferredthem to cloth for preservation ; thus making a collection of a hundred or more inter-esting examples, large and small, of his drawings. They are the only specimens of thekind that arc positively known to be in existence. I have been told
