In 1872 the lecturer delivered an address before the Yale School of line Arts:he was also asked to lecture in Burlington, at the University of Vermont, but did not,because of its distance from Boston. On the invitation of Mrs. John .M. Forbes ofMilton, he lectured once a week at her house to a party of her friends for threemonths, beginning Nov. 6, 1875, and again in the winter of 1876-77, for a like Forbes provided two blackboards ; and, at her request, the doctor did not rub outthe last drawings of each lecture. She traced them on thin paper, and then transferredthem to cloth for preservation ; thus making a collection of a hundred or more inter-esting examples, large and small, of his drawings. They are the only specimens of thekind that arc positively known to be in existence. I have been told
