The Darul Hana Bridge and State Legislative building, Kuching, Sarawak

The Darul Hana Bridge (S-bridge) was opened in November 2017. It is he only pedestrian route across the Sarawak River between north and south Kuching. It is also known as the Golden Bridge. It has changed the day and night vista of the city. It includes night lighting that changes colour. It has two viewing platforms and a corkscrew path on each riverbank to permit it to be tall enough for river transport to pass under unhindered. Costing an estimated RM35,000,000 and some jobs on the sampans that carried the traffic initially no doubt, it is complete but the landing area on one side is not, meaning it’s a hot walk to then walk again with no refreshments yet in place and the paving to be completed. Each pylon is topped with the shape of the Hornbill bird. The Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (in Malay it is Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak) sits on one side, and the main bazaar Riverside area on the other.
