Parotid tumour surgery. Surgeon's hands using scissor forceps and tweezers while suturing the surgical wound formed following surgery to remove a parotid gland tumour from a 65-year-old woman's head. The parotid is a salivary gland (one either side of the head) located adjacent to each ear. Here, the tumour has been removed and the surgical wound is being closed. Subsequent examination of the tumour (an adenoma) revealed that it was undergoing changes that indicated it might have turned cancerous.
