The Île d'Oléron is located on France's Atlantic coast on the Bay of Biscay between La Rochelle and Bordeaux. It is France's second largest island and is in the Charente-Maritime département of the Poitou-Charentes région. It has a maritime temperate climate and is well known for tourism as well as for fish and oyster production.
