GETTYSBURG. IT is not the purpose of the writer to attempt to give a fullaccount of this great contest, the greatest battle that wasfought during the Rebellion. This has been well done bythose far more competent, possessing greater ability and with fargreater resources than he who pens these lines possesses or couldcommand, so that he will merely confine himself to the mainmovements so far as they relate to the circumstances that broughtabout the important services rendered by this, one of Pennsyl-vanias best Regiments, of which the writer is proud to have beenone of the humblest of its members, and of the Brigade to which itwas attached. As has been stated, the Brigade remained in camp near Frizel-berg, Md., during June 30th, but early on the morning of July1st we were again on our way, marching towards Gettysburgwhere the two armies were fast concentrating.
