The red-orange color of Arch Rock intensifies as the sun begins to set in the Valley of Fire State Park, NV.
Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. The Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley were known to roam the Valley of Fire and 3,000 year-old Indian petroglyphs can still be seen in the park. Some of the Valley's most interesting rock formations, including Arch Rock, can be seen along a two-mile scenic loop road. Although only an hour drive from Las Vegas, the valley’s seclusion makes the park a marvelous subject for night photography.
