Great Western Hotel Cardiff number 3494

The Great Western Hotel served the Great Western train station in Cardiff (now known as cardiff general) and for many years was a Bass Charrington establishment. Now owned by JD Wetherspoon it has a name above the door of "The Great Western" with the number 6474, both signs being in the old Great Western livery colours. Research shows that the train "The Great Western" was a Castle Class locomotive numbered 7007. It appears that the number 6474 is more to do with the telephone number of the pub than anything historical.
