A sand dune begins to develop around newly-planted sea oats, March 21, 2010, in Dauphin Island, Alabama. Researchers at Dauphin Island Sea Lab report that Alabama is losing seagrass beds at "an alarming rate," with Mobile Bay seeing the decimation of nearly 1,400 acres of seagrass over the past few years.
