Manija is one of the smallest islets in Europe where people live on. The size of the island is 2 km² There are currently 35 permanent residents. There were no permanent inhabitants on the island until 1933 when 22 families 79 people moved from island Kihnu to Manija. Little lighthouse was built in the same year.
