Galicia carnival. "Cigarrons" marching through the city center.


Carnival in Galicia is one of the most traditional of Spain. This carnival is called "Entroido" and similarly celebrated in many towns in this region. Laza's Carnival is a festival of traditional character in the days before Ash Wednesday is performed in the village of Laza, Orense, Spain. Carnival is considered the with greater seniority and splendor of Galicia. The climax of the festival is Friday night before Ash Wednesday with a tour of the streets of the torches. On Sunday morning we find the "peliqueiros" with typical costumes, cowbells at the waist, a mask that covers his face and in his hand a whip, these are the main characters of the Carnival of Laza. The Sunday along with Tuesday performing a parade of floats decorated in different ways. The "farrapada" is performed on Monday morning, a picturesque battle with muddy rags. In the evening, neighbors throw land filled with ants and flour to the public. In Verin, a village near Laza, the costumes of the characters are the same but in this town are called "Cigarrons"
