Venus slipper. Venus Slipper, Cymbula sp., an unshelled pteropod mollusc which has adapted to a free-swimming lifestyle in the ocean. The Venus Slipper has two muscular wings protuding from its body with which it flaps like a butterfly to propel itself through the water. The Venus Slipper feeds on plankton. It has no gills and breathes through its body surfaces.
