Ornithology: Breeding and Nests: The northern goshawk ( Accipiter gentilis) is a medium-large raptor in the family Accipitridae, which also includes other extant diurnal raptors, such as eagles, buzzards and harriers. Northern Goshawks usually nest in mature and old-growth forests with nests being used for several years, also a nest built years prior may be used or an entirely new nest may be constructed. When nest constructing, the pair will often roost together. The nest site drawn in the illustration probably displays some artistic licence!
