The Obelisk of Theodosius is carved from red granite from Aswan. Each of its four faces has a single central column of inscriptions, celebrating Thutmose III's victory over the Mitanni which took place on the banks of the Euphrates in about 1450 now standing in Istanbul, Turkey on a pedestal with a bas relief depicting the Emperor Theodosius I and his court.
