The fibres of the first specimen contain sand grains only, those of the second specimen contain only fragments of sponge spicules. St. i: Ascension Island, 16-27 ni- Remarks. The specimen is thinly encrusting, but resembles the European forms of the species very closely in structure. A synonymy of this species will be given in my report on the Barrier Reef sponges. Distribution. Practically cosmopolitan. Duseideia chilensis (Thiele).
