Red-tailed bumblebee (Bombus lapidarius) on a common foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) flower. This is a worker (sterile female) bee. Although many species are in decline, the red-tailed bumblebee has extended its range northwards in the UK in recent years, and is widespread and common.
