Vallonia pulchella, MiilL, the Beautiful Vallonia,is a little mollusk whose shell consists of fourrounded whorls arranged in a flattened spiralform. The umbilicus is large and open, the aper-ture nearly circular, the peristome white, reflected,and forming a nearly complete circle. The shell iswhitish, thin, and in our variety is usuallymarked by cross-ribs. Its diameter is barely aneighth of an inch. The species is very widely dis-tributed. A few years ago it suddenly appeared inLos Angeles, in the yard of Dr. Stearns. It is alsoreported from Oakland and man}^ other localitiesin California, also from Utah and adjacent costdta, Miill, the Ribbed Vallonia, i
