Autumn view Lower Manhattan Civic Center Neighbourhood skyscrapers from Brooklyn Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, New York

Autumn view New York's Lower Manhattan Civic Center Neighbourhood from Brooklyn's Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park. The 76-storey, 267m (876 ft) Beekman Tower, at 8 Spruce Street, rises left side view. Opened in 2010, housing apartments, a school and space for New York Downtown Hospital, it is one of the tallest residential buildings in the Western Hemisphere. Behind, we see the neo-Gothic copper top tower, 241 m (792 ft) Woolworth Building, constructed 1911-13 and the tallest building in the world for seventeen years. In the centre of the view rises the 32-storey, 180 m (540 feet) telephone switching building at 375 Pearl Street, known as both the Verizon Building and One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza. Built in 1975, it was bought from the Verizon Communications Company (the Verizon logo topping the building) in 2007 by Taconic Partners. In June 2011 it was sold to Sabey Data Center. Behind it rises the 40-storey, 177 m high, neo-classical Roman Imperial Revival architecture Manhattan Municipal Building , built 1907-14. The 6 m high gilded statue of Civic Fame was placed at its top in 1913 and, symbolising New York's Five Boroughs, is the second largest statue in New York after the Statue of Liberty. On the right side of the shot , at 40 Foley Square, with a gilded terra-cotta pyramid roof, we see the 30-storey, 390 ft square tower of the Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse, built in 1932.
