This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product MTG-S satellite and Sentinel-4 mission, illustration. Sentinel 4 is a space mission from the ESA (European Space Agency) dedicated to monitoring the composition of the atmosphere for GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security programme) Atmosphere Services. It will consist of an Ultraviolet Visible Near-infrared (UVN) spectrometer and data from Eumetsat's thermal InfraRed Sounder (IRS), both onboard the MTG-Sounder (MTG-S) satellite. After the MTG-S satellite is in orbit, the Sentinel-4 mission also includes data from Eumetsat's Flexible Combined Imager (FCI) onboard the MTG-Imager (MTG-I) satellite. MTG is the Meteosat Third Generation satellite network. The MTG-S satellites are expected to launch in 2019 and 2027.
