Tombs of Talma and others, Pere la Chaise
The view taken in 1828, shows Monuments in the cemetery of Pѐre la Chaise a 100 acre public burial ground in the vicinity of Paris. The mausoleum of Talma was constructed with public subscriptions to commemorate a great artist of the stage. Francis Joseph Talma came to the attention of George IV. He acted as Seide in Voltaire’s Mahomet. He was favored by Napoleon and became his political partisan. The image was drawn by J Nash under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by Fenner Sears and Co.
