Colorful geothermal feature, Doublet Pool with scalloped geyserite deposits of opaline silica around the border, water about 190○f rare short eruption

Doublet Pool on Geyser Hill, a short walk from Old Faithful, has a scalloped edge, and blue water. The silica mineral in the water forms a deposit at water level which varies. When high, bubbles rise and waves are seen on the water surface. Thumps felt, raise the water level and you can hear and feel thumping, possibly caused by collapsing gas and steam bubbles deep underground.
