The Salvation Army William Booth Memorial Halls – Nottingham Columns along the side of the building William Booth, born (1829) in Nonintone Place in Sneinton was the founder of the Salvation Army, and became a Freeman of the City. Booth founded the Salvation Army in London in 1865 as a Christian mission. It was actually named the Salvation Army in 1878. The Nottingham, Corps was founded in 1879, but these Halls were not opened until 1915, three years after the founder’s death. They then became the home of Nottingham 1 Corps
