THOUGH CASED IN PLASTER OF PARIS (THE RESULT OF A SEVERE SPINAL INJURY) HE SWAM BACK TO THE SINKING SHIP TO SEARCH FOR COMRADES HE THOUGHT MIGHT STILL BE ON BOARD. - Hosfield (left) and Harry Young, also a survivor from the same ship. Young spent his 26th birthday clinging to a small rubber float after the ship had gone down. Altogether he was 38 hours in the water before a naval motor launch found and rescued him
