The line of demarcation between gangrenousand unaffected tissue extends to within 5 mm. of the internal os. Microscopic Examination.—No change in the peritoneum andmuscularis other than hyperemia. The tubal isthmus of the rightside shows but four primitive folds. The epithelium exhibits recentexfoliation. The nuclei are hyperchromatic. The relative inten-sity of staining qualities as compared with the nuclei of muscleand connective tissue is quite marked. The left tube shows the samechanges as the right, except that there is more marked exfoliationof Case XXIII. Photomicrograph. Trans-section of Fallopian tube in case of bichloride ofmercury poisoning, showing active desquamation of epithelium Five additional sections taken from mid- and distal portions showthe same essential changes of hyperemia and extensive epithelialdesquamation and hyperchromatosis. In many instances the stromalportions of the folds are entirely bared of epithelium. The exfoli-ated epithelium shows a marked granulation, or better, perhaps, adisintegration of cell nuclei and protoplasm. In the stroma thedilated small blood vessels filled with hemolyzing red blood—cellsare prominently seen in each section. Occasionally there are smallportions which have suffered from earlier exfoliation than that seenin the greater part of the sections. Case XXIV.—Fallopian Tube in Extensive Fibromata of Uterusand a Large Ovarian Cyst. Aged forty-four years. Duration of condition,
