Bruns has begun to cut valley from new pips, the first pips received from his brother in Hamburg since the war. It was something of an accom- plishment to maintain a steady output of cut valley for four years with the regular supply of pips cut off, but Mr. Bruns has cut valley practically every day during the last four years. He still is using some Dutch and Danish pips, but they never have equaled in quality what he received from his brother. E. Wienhoeber leaves February 8 for a trip to California. He will return shortly before Easter. A. Miller says Gladiolus Lily Lehman is without a superior in the open ground, but that it does not respond un- der greenhouse conditions. E. C. Amling is busy on the coast.
