Old Bishop's Palace gatehouse, Llandaff, South Glamorgan, Wales.

View south east of the C13th gatehouse to the Old Bishop's Palace, Llandaff, Wales, UK, probably built by William de Braose, Bishop of Llandaff 1266-87. The 'palace', or small castle, remained the seat of administration & residence for bishops until it was attacked & damaged in 1404 during the rebellion of Owain Glyndwr. The gatehouse, attached to the curtain wall surrounding the palace, continued in use after 1404, and a Tudor-style window was inserted at first-floor level on the west side.
