As a rule, the primary emotions, as love andhate, joy and sorrow, are much more uniformly interpreted thanthe secondary ones, like repulsiveness, surprise, distrust anddefiance. In all these cases, the observers were asked to set down theirinterpretations without suggestions from the experimenter.
