Despite the unprecedented success of the Mothers' day advertising campaign, which, at small individual cost, revolu- tionized the business of this day and directed the business into more reason- able and profitable channels, those progressive florists who believe in this manner of sales creation could not con- vince some of the others that the same ?lan could be advantageously worked or Memorial day. The reason advanced was that everyone was busy, but some found that business was not so good as they had expected. A large space in the newspapers, properly worded and displayed, calling attention to the real significance of the day and reminding the public of the duty we owe the de- parted would have awakened the latent spark of mindful appreciation in the heart of many who neglected the oppor- tunity. The result would have been a much greater demand for flowers and wreaths, with a resultant benefit to the retailer and grower. The sooner florists come to realize that advertising is an asset and an investment that bears sound returns and not an expense merely, the better it will be for all concerned. Various Notes. Schramm Bros, believe that all ad- vertising is good but that some ad- vertising is better than others. Thej consider every idea with a view to seeing how they can adapt it to their business rather than to seeing how they can get along without it.
