Some locally grown stock of Chrysolora and Crystal Gem is coming in and other varieties are promised shortly. Orchids continue to be scarce and the few arriving are quickly taken. Oregon violets are obtainable in limited quanti- ties. Lily of the valley, Cecile Brunner roses and bouvardia constitute other material suitable for corsage work. Various Notes. A visit to the range of the Wilson- Crout-Gehr Co. reveals the fact that this firm has a promising lot of cycla- mens and poinsettias coming along for holiday sales. Mr. Wilson is at present away on a trip to his old home in In- diana and, before returning, will visit the large greenhouses at Richmond and Springfield. Rapid progress is being made with the new office and service building being erected by J. B. Pilkington on his newly acquired property, at Second and Sal- mon streets. Sufficient space is being left for a city nursery yard, where a variety of ornamental stock will always be on display. A venison dinner at the Multnomah hotel, followed by a dance, was an event of last week attended by a good num- ber of florists of this city. Leo Weide- man provided the venison, which he ob- tained on a successful hunting trip in southern Oregon. The new rose-pink carnation pro- duced by Weideman Bros, has been named after the chief executive of our state, Governor Olcott. The new carna- tion is a sport from Enchantress Su- preme and is proving to be a ready seller in the
