Every place one would call last week some familiar face would be missing; the establishments are all running short-handed, and it seems that every- one is determined to get in a little well earned vacation this year. Never, in my experience, have I heard of so many vacations among the florists as this year. To the usual stock question, "Anything new this week?" the reply will invariably be the same, "Nothing new that I know of. Business is quiet; not much ; Then, nine cases out of ten, you will hear the itinerary of a trip that is being planned, or of some- one who is already enjoying some trip. This is not only the case with the re- tailors, but with the growers as well. The florists are beginning to realize that their business owes them two weeks or a month out of the twelve for recreation. Tlie Convention. Kobcrt L. Graham, Jr., and .Joseph S. Merritt are busy men these days, getting the baseball nine into final con- dition. Batting averages are being carefully studied, so that the line-up may be a strong one. Our pitching de- partment, with Harry Wagner the choice for the mound, is particularly strong, but, should they find Harry, wo are ready to mix it. Joseph Merritt has some smoke that we are not afraid to try out against any club in the S. A. F. Mr. Graham has entered the boys for all of the sports on the list.
