Paris, France, French AIDS Associations Meeting With the INVS, Epidemiology Study Results, Woman Giving Speech

The Institut de Veille Sanitaire ( INVS) occurs every year on the occasion of World AIDS Day , updating information on HIV and sexually transmitted infections ( STIs) in France data. This data is based on different monitoring systems involving biologists and / or clinicians to mandatory or voluntary , and on surveys of specific populations. Available data for 2011 show no break with previous years. Men who have sex with men ( MSM) and persons infected through heterosexual born abroad (including ¾ in sub-Saharan Africa) are the two most affected groups and represent 40 % of new HIV-positive in 2011. HIV transmission is still important among MSM , who are the only group where the number of new HIV diagnoses has increased between 2003 and 2011. The increase in the number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and risk behaviors (see survey Survey Press Gay and Lesbian - EPGL -) in this population are of concern and can leave fear a resurgence of HIV infections . Among heterosexuals born abroad , HIV transmission seems less important than before and the number of new HIV diagnoses decreased since 2003. Among heterosexuals born in France , the number of new diagnoses has been stable for several years. However, some STIs increase in this population encouraged to remain vigilant for future years. Finally, drug users ( DU) , largely affected by HIV in the mid- eighties , now represent a small number of discoveries of HIV infection . At the regional level , Guyana and Guadeloupe have the highest levels of transmission of infection, higher than that observed in the Ile- de- France .
