In 1970 they were designed at the Institute for Maritime History Emblems for the Antillean Marine Barracks and the Navy Base and they opted for typical Antillean atributes. The Divi-Divi tree is characteristic of Curaçao, where sufficlant stands and grows one direction through the Northeast Passelate. The tree is able to resistance to particularly severe storms and therefore an appropriate symbol for the marine unit.
