In 1888 the crypt was made known tothe French Archaeological Congress, which met at Daxin that year, and as a consequence, was declared anliistorical monument. Since that time the churchhas been cleared away, the fourteenth-century ribbedand bossed vaulting removed and replaced by a modemimitation of eleventh - century work, and a chapelbuilt above it, apparently to serve a fine new hospitalwhich has been erected close by.
